This Kansas City winter has been a frigid one thus far and if you’re like us, cabin fever is getting to you. We’re here to share some of our favorite cold-temp activities for when you really need to get out of the house!
TAKE A SIP
Gather some close friends and catch up over hot tea and delicious treats. Even if you’re dressed in an oversized sweater and boots, you still feel fancy!
Clocktower Bakery in Downtown Overland Park – Super quaint, delicious food, must book ahead.
American Slang at the Intercontinental Kansas City – Daily afternoon tea from 2-4pm, reservations recommended. Overlooking the beautiful country club plaza!
They don’t call this town a Creative Crossroads for nothing! Winter is a great time to reignite your appreciation and brighten up your day with some art.
Scraps KC – a wonderful DIY studio in the West Bottoms where the whole family can have fun and creatively interact. They also support an important cause by contributing right back to the KC homeless community.
The Nelson – Don’t be intimidated by this local gem. You can spend hours here or if you plan it right, sign up for an instructional class (offered to both adults and kids).
If you just want to lay low but the indentation in your couch is becoming too defined, head to a coffee shop! Great people-watching, bring that book you’ve been meaning to read… just a great way to let the hours slip by on a cold winter’s day.
Thou Mayest in the Crossroads– quintessential coffee/booze bar, 2 levels of seating
Heirloom Bakery in Brookside– not a place to go if you’re doing the Whole 30 diet!
Black Dog Coffeehouse in Lenexa – ample seating, great food, free board games
CATCH A FLICK
So many great films out right now and there are no shortage of great theaters in the KC metro.
Glenwood Arts Theater in Leawood – support your local boutique theater, Big Sonia is a must-see on only showing here!
TAKE A TOUR
KC offers great tours allowing you a behind the scenes look at your favorite local brands… with lots of sampling included!
